Back on the health horse
Good and bad news, says the doctor:
Good: My blood pressure, blood sugar, liver, heart, and other important innards-related qualities are as they should be. The high cholesterol that is apparently part of my genetic endowment is back down to acceptable levels thanks to 1. adding Lipitor to my diet and 2. eliminating (sob) most cheese. I miss cheese, but (sob) can’t really digest it very well any more, so I’m okay with (sob) limiting it to a rare and much appreciated treat.
Bad: I need to lose 10 to 15 pounds, and I need to work out, because it’s good for me and also because I am getting plump and jiggly. I already knew this. I was just hoping to ignore it until I stopped caring. However, I do care very much about my joints, my blood pressure, bla bla bla, so I guess I know what I need to do.
Losing a pound a week is an entirely reasonable goal. If I embrace more veggies/tofu/whole grains, cut the calories (except for Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, when my friends put on legendary spreads and all bets are off), and move around more, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to expect to be 10 pounds lighter and a little more buff by, say, 3 months from today. Hello again, my old friend Fitday.
I would like to be able to do a real push-up, too, but I’ll make that a hope rather than an intention.
